Girls Trip

The movie is about four women that have been best friends since college who are known as the Flossy Posse, who over the years become distance and have not seen each other in a few years. Ryan Pierce (Regina Hall) is a keynote speaker for Essence music festival, she decides to invite her friends to come with her and turn it into a girl’s trip. They were hoping that it would be a weekend they would never forget. However before the girls could embark on a fun weekend they find out that Ryan’s husband (Mike Colter) is having an affair.

After finally watching Girls Trip I have no idea why it has taken me this long to finally watch the movie. I thought the movie was funny. Although, when I first saw the trailer for Girls Trip, I couldn’t help but notice how similar it was too Rough Night. Girls Trip in my opinion was by far way better in so many ways, it was funnier and the plotline made more sense.

The cast was amazing; I have nothing bad to say. Regina Hall’s character did have some comedic moment especially during the sausage scene I could not help but laugh. Her character was also relatable. In the movie she knew that her husband was having an affair but chooses to ignore the fact. This is because although they were married they were also business partners; she thought she would not be able to continue her business without him. It seems that it is sometimes easier to advice people to leave a partner when they cheat, but when it comes to ‘practice what you preach’ it can prove to be difficult. While all of them did make me laugh there was one character that blew me away with her performance and that was Dina.

Now Dina (Tiffany Haddish) is a character she’s a friend we’d all love to have. She was by far my favourite character, she’s funny, crazy, loyal (a die-hard friend) and inappropriate. She’s described as the “wild one” and we can definitely see why. She encouraged her friends to let loose and just enjoy themselves. Whenever I saw her on the screen I just knew that at some point she’d make me laugh. My favourite scene had to be when she was buying absinthe from Mike Epps character, I could not stop laughing. I finally realised how crazy she really is.

The only thing I wasn’t too much of a fan off was the ending. There were two scenes I wasn’t too fond off. The first being, when the girls during the movie had a big rift, they ended up saying some harsh words to each other yet ended up being friends again. I just thought that they forgave each other a bit too soon and wanted to see some development there. The second being, when Ryan and Julian got together while I was happy to see them ending up together. I couldn’t help but think how cliché it was. Isn’t this how all movies end?

To conclude I thought the movie overall was funny, I loved how the girls had fun. It made me want to plan my own girls trip I would definitely watch it again.

Bad moms Review

I thought the movie was funny witty and brutally honest yet relatable at the same to some extent. We have all felt helpless at times whether it is at being a parent, in your personal life or in your profession. We see Amy (Kunis) struggling to balance working and being a parent at the same time and being in a marriage that is failing due to infidelity. Amy finds out that her husband has been semi cheating on her for 10 months with a woman he found online. She ends up befriending two other moms Carla (Hahn) and Kiki (Bell).

I found that Bad moms slightly reminded me of  means girls but the parents version. Gwendolyn (Applegate), Stacy (Pinkett-Smith) and Vicky (Mumolo) were pretty much the mean “moms”. Amy felt unappreciated at work and felt that her school’s PTA had too much commitment and decided to run for the PTA president. However Gwendolyn wasn’t so pleased and responded by planting drugs in Amy’s daughters locker.

Overall I thought the movie was really fun and would rate the movie a 6.5/10.

Suicide Squad Review

After hearing about the negative reviews Suicide Squad had I was a bit worried as I thought I wouldn’t like it. In my opinion, I thought ‘Suicide Squad’ was a good movie. I’m slightly confused as to why there are so many negative reviews. The movie had loads of action and comedy elements with a few sad scenes. I think the reason the movie may have had negative review could have been because the actors involved are well-known, so people had high expectations. I’ve watched the movie twice and I still thought it was great.

I thought the plot line was great, I loved Harley’s and the Joker’s relationship. I loved how he would do just about anything to get Harley back. Will Smith was right Margot Robbie and Jared Leto did have great chemistry. Jared Leto did a great job as the Joker, I know a few thought that it was a big job to fill in especially after Heath Ledger’s performance. But I thought both versions of the Joker were great as we got to see different perspectives of the Joker. Margot Robbie performance in the movie was great I liked seeing the different sides to her character. We saw that she was not fearless and psychotic in the beginning, but changed later on.

I thought the cast choice was great. I loved Viola Davis as Amanda Waller you couldn’t tell in the beginning if she was evil or not. Although she did give some subtle hints that we really shouldn’t trust her, an example is when Harley asked her “Are you the devil?” She replied with “Maybe.”. At the time I thought it was a joke, but towards the end, I figured she was half-joking and half being serious. Will Smith scene with his daughter at the end was heart-warming, it was good to see as we were so used to him being a heartless killer.

Cara Delevingne role as Dr June Moone and Enchantress although it was not entirely all bad it could have also been a lot better. At times her acting felt a bit unbelievable, especially in the scenes after Enchantress had possessed her body and she was herself again. I did not fully believe that she was genuinely upset. I don’t believe that she can act as well as she thinks. Not all models can transition from a model to an Actress straight away it takes trial and error.

The only major issues I had with the movie was that there were some scenes that was confusing. But overall I thought the movie was good.

I would rate it a 7/10.

Big eyes review

The movie is based around the late 1950s and 1960s and was directed by Tim Burton. DeeAnn (Ritter) Margaret (Adams) best friend is funny yet sophisticated. The movie is about Margaret Keene (Adams) who is an artist and draws paintings and portrait with big eyes who’s husband (Waltz) ends up claiming that her painting is he’s. Her husband in the movie is extremely selfish, easily angered, aggressive and pushes her in the sidelines. I think that the movie did really well in helping the viewers see what the late 1950s and 1960s looked like.

I felt a lot of sympathy for Margaret in the movie as she really did love her husband and believed that he had her best interest at heart. Instead he lied and pretend that Margaret’s work was he’s own. What I enjoyed most about the movie is that Margaret did not give up and ended up confronting Walter with the help of her daughter Jane and admitted that the ‘big eyes’ art work was really her own. Although it was a hard thing for her to do she came clean.

I would rate the movie a 7.5/ 10.

Taken 3

Glad to see that the story line for this movie does not involve Bryan (Liam Neeson) ex-wife and daughter being kidnapped. The movie was a bit sad as it focused on Bryan trying to prove he’s innocence in he’s wife death. When I had originally heard there was going to be a taken 3, I thought why would they do that the second one was not as great as the first one. The third instalment is going to be crap.

However I was pleasantly surprised, it was way better than the second movie. I would give this movie a 8.5/10. Love the action pack going on and the storyline which showcased Bryan trying to find out he’s wife killer and Kim (Maggie Grace) finding out that she is pregnant. I was showed that the ex wife would end up dying which is something that I like in a movie, having a storyline that the audience will not expect from you. Lenore’s (Famke Janssen) husband Stuart (Dougray role in her death was not as surprising, however he was good at masking he’s true nature until the very end. I want give any more details about the movie but do suggest that you watch it if you have not already. Towards the end of the movie I did not want the movie to end and was hoping there would be a taken 4 but it probably will not be as good as this movie.

50 Shades of Grey

50 shade of grey was one of the most anticipated movie of 2015, so when Valentine’s day arrived me and my friend decided we would watch the movie. I can honestly say that I was disappointed with the movie. This could have been due to the fact that I had not read the book prior to me watching the movie. I would  rate the movie a 5/10.

IMG_6800To begin with I did not think that the movie needed to be two hours long. There were scenes in the movie that was not really needed. The first scene that comes to mind would be the Rita Ora scene, Rita Ora character was only there for a few seconds that you could not fully recognise her, nor could you understand her either. The scene seemed pretty pointless and did not really relate with the plot.

Another pointless scene would be when Anna went home to visit her mum and Christian came to speak to her seeing as she would not return his phone call. It just did not feel like it was needed. The other scene alone would have probably been enough. Another thing that I was disappointed was the lack of BDSM that was shown in the movie. Now I’m not saying that I wanted to have seen the BDSM, but maybe if it was implied it would have been better. Christian seemed more controlling than anything, and the only time we saw the act of BDSM was right at the end, when Anna leaves him. I can honestly say that the ending annoyed me, and was even more annoyed when I heard there was going to be a second movie. I do not think I will be watching the second movie.

One of the few things that I did like would have to be that the sex scenes was not fully explicit. We were only shown one sex scene which was great. Over all the storyline was great. Just a really long movie as me and my friend ended up finding ways to fall asleep. However I asked my other friend who watched the movie who thought that it was ok and was pretty much like the book if you have read it.

To end with I think I had way too much expectations which left me disappointed.

The Interview

To start of with I actually enjoyed the interview. I thought it was a decent film, after all the news coverage the film received, it made me want to watch the film. Plus it was starring Seth Rogen and James Franco. Having seen most of their movies I knew it would be pretty funny.

I love how the film opened up with Eminem, had no idea he was going to be in it and found him hilarious. Anyways I would probably rate the movie 7.5 out of 10. Reasons was although the movie was pretty funny I did find that the movie was a bit long. Although I did laugh at most part of the movie, there were scenes I would just sit and think how long has the movie been and is it going to end anytime soon?

I will suggests that you go ahead and watch the film and give me your feedback.
